What Is the ÖSA Impact Seal®?

The ÖSA Impact Seal® is a global certification awarded to hospitality operators who meet the highest standards in sustainable guest amenities. It represents verified action, traceable impact, and a deep commitment to eliminating waste across every guest touchpoint. This is not just a badge—it’s a symbol of trust, accountability, and leadership in a changing industry.

Sustainability has become a baseline expectation in hospitality, but true credibility requires more than good intentions. The ÖSA Impact Seal® separates real impact from empty claims. Certified properties are recognized for measurable waste reduction, certified product sourcing, and guest-facing transparency. With the seal, your brand earns more than recognition—it earns respect.
 

How It Works

To receive the ÖSA Impact Seal®, each property is evaluated across five core criteria:

• Product Compliance: Guest amenities must meet ÖSA’s standards—biodegradable, refillable, plastic-free, or circular by design.

• Waste Reduction: Minimum verified reduction of 1 metric ton of annual amenity waste (for Silver tier and above).

• Material Transparency: Full disclosure of amenity materials, suppliers, and end-of-life breakdown.

• Guest Communication: Visible sustainability information must be accessible in-room or digitally.

• Annual Verification: Ongoing compliance is required, including annual audit or digital re-certification.
   

Certification Tiers

Bronze
Entry-level recognition for properties that adopt basic ÖSA-compliant products and begin the transition away from harmful materials.
 

Silver
Requires verified reduction of at least 1 ton of annual waste and integration of a majority of ÖSA-approved guest amenities.
 

Gold
Awarded to properties that have fully eliminated single-use plastics from guest rooms and implemented a fully traceable, low-waste amenity system.

Gold-tier properties receive guaranteed features in the ÖSA Global Impact Report and top visibility in the ÖSA Sustainability Index.
